Stag's Hollow Winery is one of the “hidden wineries” in the South Okanagan. Nestled in the hills, it is surrounded by vineyards, mountains and large tracts of land set aside by the Nature Trust. Stag’s Hollow is a small family-operated winery, owned by Linda Pruegger and Larry Gerelus. The varietals grown are Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Vidal. Larry & Linda believe their passion and involvement in every aspect of the vineyard and winemaking process finds its way into the richness of Stag’s Hollow’s wines. It all started in 1981 with the first sampling of Okanagan wines. In 1991, Larry spent the summer researching prime grape-growing areas in the Okanagan, which led him to the Okanagan Falls area. In 1992, the existing 10-acre vineyard was purchased, and in 1995, along with the construction of the winery, the first vintage was created. Over the years, the vineyard has consistently produced grapes with excellent ripening and fruit profiles. The area’s microclimate has provided superb conditions for Stag’s Hollow’s grapes. Stag's Hollow wines are handcrafted and of limited production. |

Stag's Hollow Winery reviews

One of my favorite wineries that I discovered in 2006 is Stag's Hollow. I am ashamed that I had never been there before, especially considering that I used to live in Okanagan Falls. I was fortunate enough to visit in the middle of summer in between large groups and had the staff mostly to myself. I sampled all of the reds and enjoyed them all. However, the 2004 Merlot (not the Renaissance Merlot) was my favorite. While I usually prefer a cabernet sauvignon or pinot noir, I was blown away by the complex, yet extremely smooth Merlot. Go figure. Shortly after the Festival of the Grape I returned and purchased a case. Despite the general consensus that white wines are to be had with poultry, no fewer than three bottles were consumed at both Thanksgiving and Christmas between five to six people each time. It was a hit, even amongst the usual white wine drinkers. Clearly this winery is something special!
