We visited this small winery for the first time during the 2007 fall wine festival. The beautiful new building, which opened in the fall of 2006, has a large, windowed tasting room with a fantastic view. The mezzanine is presently used as an art gallery. They are hoping to open the balcony and banquet room next year, pending their winery lounge license approval. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, the tastings are free.
Most of their grapes are grown on site at their Mt. Boucherie vineyards, near Kelowna. Our favourite wines were the 2005 Pinot Noir, $22, which we will keep for a few years to age. Their flagship wine is a very nice off-dry Old Vines Auxerrois ($15), made from vines planted in the late 1970’s. The Tapestry, at $14,is a pleasant medium-dry blend of five white varietals. My husband liked the Riesling at $17. It is a sweet wine, rated a 3, with a lovely aroma and very fruity taste. It is limited in supply as only 100 cases were made for 2006 release. Their new release 2002 Auxerrois Ice Wine is another good buy at $35. It is also unique as it is the only Auxerrois Ice Wine made in Canada. They appear to be pleasing consumers as several of their wines were sold out a the winery. We will definitely return to this one!!
