Laughing Stock's winemaking philosophy is very focused on the super-premium, small-production wines using techniques that showcase the very best from the fruit. To that end, they built a new winemaking facility for their 2005 vintage: a 4,600 square-foot gravity-feed facility complete with an underground barrel cellar. The design leverages the hillside and benefits from limited intervention and handling of the wine in its development. Top-of-the-line winery equipment includes a sorting table and Delta de-stemmer/crusher. Complexity is added to the wines through an extended barrel-aging program using 100% French oak sourced from select barrel manufacturers based on previous vintages and ongoing oak trials that match up the varietal to the best coopers. With the ambition of developing "best of breed" wines, David gained input from the most highly reputed winemakers. These winemakers are sharing their extensive wisdom and experience with David to further deepen his winemaking knowledge.

A true cult winery -- get on their list and don't miss ANY of their releases. The wine maker consistently produces an amazing red blend (Portfolio) which shows up on wine lists in the better restaurants in town. This years Chardonnay (06) is a pineapple/creamy and well balanced sip. I hear that they take a serious approach to their barreling program and it shows in the wines.
