A tour of Quail's Gate begins at the wine shop, situated in a historic log cabin built in 1873 for John and Susan Allison. This home was the first permanent structure on the west side of Okanagan Lake. The next item on the agenda is a stroll through the vineyard. Quails’ Gate is known for its ideal site for growing varietal grapes, especially Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Other varieties include Riesling, Merlot, Gewürztraminer, Optima, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Marechal Foch and Chasselas. The tour guide will take you through the entire growing season, explaining what activities take place at various times of the year. From the vineyard, head to the state-of-the-art production facility to learn about crushing and de-stemming, pressing and fermentation, and the aging and bottling processes. No tour is complete without the opportunity to try the finished product. Quails’ Gate Estate Winery has won numerous international awards. You will be offered a selection of wines to sample, all made with BC-grown grapes and approved by the Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA). Before or after your tour, stop by the Old Vines Patio, open from May to October.

Quails' Gate and Old Vines Patio are a pleasure to visit. The staff are friendly and quite knowledgeable. My friends and family all enjoyed themselves on the tour of the vineyards. I would recommend the Merlot to red wine lovers because it is simply amazing.

We visited this winery for the first time at the start of the fall wine festival. Although they were extremely busy we found the staff to be knowledgeable and friendly. They did their best to ensure that no one waited too long for a tasting. The new wine shop and restaurant are stunning, beautiful buildings with a great views. We especially liked the Merlot, the Old Vines Foch and the Chasselas/Pinot Blanc.

In 2006 I had dinner at Quails Gate - the BEST dinner in a long time! I came back for tasting in 2007; the guide was fabulous, friendly, knowledgeable and although it was at the end of her day she still went beyond to make our experience a pleasure. One of my favorite wineries in the Okanagan!

I visited Quails' Gate this past week. The wine shop was very cute. But that's the only nice thing I have to say about this winery. My biggest complaint was the staff. I felt that they were very cold and unenthusiastic. Most other wineries I have been too the staff is seemingly very interested in engaging you in conversation about their wines. I had to ask the questions and no one seemed very interested in answering me. There was really no excuse for this since I was the only customer in the wine shop with four staff who were apparently only interested in talking about what they had done the night before and planned to do that night. Truly disappointed.
