The 2009 Blasted Church Syrah is made of fruit from 2 separate vineyards. Their estate Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Syrah and Viognier from Osoyoos. The 2009 harvest was fantastic; fruit from Osoyoos and BCV ripened earlier than normal due to the heat of the late summer and early fall. For example, the Cabernet Sauvignon would usually struggle to reach 25 brix; it was picked at 25.8 brix. The challenge was to catch the grapes at the right stage of flavor development.
