Lang Vineyards

About The Winery

High up on the hillside of the Naramata Bench sits Lang Vineyards. Regarded as the first 'Farm gate Winery', Lang Vineyards opened their door in 1990 and has grown from its humble beginning into one of the Okanagan's foremost boutique wineries. The wines are unique and individual specialties, hand crafted from the ground up. No mass production here. While most of the wines are produced in stainless steel tanks, the winery has embarked on a plan to produce small lots of specialty wines aged in oak. These specialty wines, having experienced the soft touch of oak can be found under our 'Soaring Eagle' brand name. The Marechal Foch is the only remaining hybrid grown in the vineyard on over 40 year old vines, and is made into a soft red wine that is extremely popular among Lang clientele. Other red varieties include Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. New last summer was the Grand Pinot, a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. White varieties include award winning Pinot Auxerrois, Gewurztraminer, Rieslings, Pinot Gris, Grand Pinot (a blend of Auxerrois, Gris, and Blanc), and Viognier. Lang is also a large producer of dessert wines, most notably the 2000 Merlot Icewine that won the Gold Medal at the All Canada Wine Competition. Recently released is the 2001 Riesling Icewine, a perennial favourite. A very unique dessert wine produced primarily for export is the original Canadian Maple Wine. This wine is produced in both a red and white variety and is unique in that it has a smooth maple flavour to it.
