Quails' Gate Estate Winery

About The Winery

A tour of Quail's Gate begins at the wine shop, situated in a historic log cabin built in 1873 for John and Susan Allison. This home was the first permanent structure on the west side of Okanagan Lake. The next item on the agenda is a stroll through the vineyard. Quails' Gate is known for its ideal site for growing varietal grapes, especially Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Other varieties include Riesling, Merlot, Gewurztraminer, Optima, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Marechal Foch and Chasselas. The tour guide will take you through the entire growing season, explaining what activities take place at various times of the year. From the vineyard, head to the state-of-the-art production facility to learn about crushing and de-stemming, pressing and fermentation, and the aging and bottling processes. No tour is complete without the opportunity to try the finished product. Quails' Gate Estate Winery has won numerous international awards. You will be offered a selection of wines to sample, all made with BC-grown grapes and approved by the Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA). Before or after your tour, stop by the Old Vines Patio, open from May to October.
